Hey all,

Wow!  Talking about having a crazy ride during VBS week!  No, I am not talking about riding on the back of a Harley with the motorcycle gang.  I'm talking about how we were shown the potential for children's ministry!  It is evident that we need to be getting out of our four walls and reach out to our community (funny that the great commish first instruction is to GO).  Well I will keep this short and sweet (yeah right).  What ways do you see SSBC reaching out to our community?  Of course, in this open forum your opinion is respected.  Thanks for your input and let us all be encouraged at what God is doing!

I think that a good place to start is with the people that God has brought through the doors of the church building. Let's lavish these people with love and present them with the truth.

I think that one area we may need to consider is developing a counseling ministry where we seek to apply the gospel to every area of life. This gives a good context for proclaiming the gospel to the unbelieving and helping believers grow in the truth and following Christ.

Here is another thought. I think that we need to be careful about "seminary talk" at State Street. Oftentimes we seminary students refer to people, terminology, historical nuances, and movements that only seminary students would understand. In thinking about reaching the community and welcoming people to join the kingdom of God in New Albany, I think that for the most part it would be prudent to explain seminary references clearly if we use them or just eliminate them for the most part. What do you think?
